Chiefs Girls Hockey Program
Girls Hockey is the 3rd fastest growing team sport in the United States and the Chiefs Hockey Club is proud to offer a dedicated Girls Hockey Program for our female athletes. We fielded our first all-girls team in 2018-19 and they competed in the 10U girls NIHL-gold division finishing in 3rd place during the regular season and then playing in the championship game of the NIHL Playoffs.
Going forward, the Chiefs are expanding our Girls Program to 2 teams in 2019-20 with the continuation of our 10U team and the addition of a team at the 12U level. Both teams will compete in NIHL for the 2019-20 season. The Club is planning further expansion in future seasons to keep up with the demands.
The Chiefs will also be running dedicated summer clinics for girls which will focus on individual skills development along with some team concepts. Summer clinics are run by former Division 1 girls hockey players (and local hockey legends) Fiona McKenna and Hannah Zarzecki. Fiona played college hockey at Princeton and Hannah played at Harvard. Clinics are $25 per session and the dates are scheduled for:
- July 7th - 4:40 PM - Edge Ice Arena
- July 21st - 4:40 PM - Edge Ice Arena
- August 4th - 4:40 PM - Edge Ice Arena
- August 18th - 4:40 PM - Edge Ice Arena
Evaluations and Tryouts for our 2019-20 teams will begin in late August with teams being formed by early September for the 2019-20 season. Attending one/all of the summer clinics above is a great way to learn more about our program and/or to get ready to play for one of our teams in the fall.
